Older Adult-Friendly Programming
Empowering women through education, exercise, and expert care.
The Wellness Institute understands the unique health needs of women at every stage of life. We offer comprehensive programs to empower women to embrace strength training, address pelvic health concerns, and support new mothers in their fitness journeys. Our expert-led workshops and classes provide a safe, supportive environment where women can learn, grow, and thrive.
Registration for these programs opens August 22 at 8:00 am.
Fitness Classes
These classes are included with your membership and are great for older adults.
Fitness Studio
Prime Time Cardio – This low-impact class is easy to follow for those young at heart who wish to keep their hearts young.
Posture Perfect – This strength training class improves posture by mainly targeting the lower body, mid-back, and core muscles.
Strength and Stretch – Improve strength, balance, and coordination to give you more energy. Use a variety of equipment and finish with a stretch.
Zumba Gold – Zumba is created for the active older adult, the beginner participant, and other special populations that may need modifications for success.
People with Arthritis Can Exercise (PACE) – Exercises are designed for those with arthritis to maintain or improve joint mobility, endurance, balance, and coordination.
Yoga Studio
Gentle Chair Yoga – No mat work; no stress on the knees or wrists. Use a chair to aid with poses to build strength and flexibility.
Yin Restorative – Explore the benefits of conscious breath work and meditation with soothing postures.
Hatha Restorative and Meditation – Unwind from your day with this gentle, slow, and restorative Hatha Yoga class.
Pool
All Pool classes are appropriate for older adults.
Spin
All Spin classes are appropriate for older adults.

WellConnect Social Group
Social wellness impacts your mental and physical health and is vital to overall health. Join our WellConnect program, designed to help you socialize, engage with others, and meet new people! Take part in various activities. Games, puzzles, and cards will be provided, but this time is also open to those wanting to knit, read, crochet, etc. Please bring craft supplies with you. Everyone is welcome!

Urban Poling
Learn to use Nordic Poles properly. This full-body workout enhances walking and improves cardiovascular fitness, muscular strength, and overall health. Be prepared to be outside, weather permitting. Meet in room 4, and poles will be provided.

Mature Drivers
Attend this session to learn defensive driving techniques, enhance your driving skills, update your knowledge of traffic laws and road safety rules, and discuss whether you can compensate for any changes that may occur in hearing, vision, flexibility, and reaction time.

Canadian Dental Care Plan (CDCP)
Information session on the new Canadian Dental Care Plan, addressing your questions and concerns. Note: If you wish to apply on-site with the representative, you must have a valid ID and know your Social Insurance Number.

Understanding Dementia
You’ll learn about Alzheimer’s disease and other dementias, the warning signs of the disease, how to reduce your risk, interact with someone living with dementia, and Alzheimer’s Society Programs & Services.
