Member Etiquette

The Wellness Institute strives to be an inclusive and accessible space for everyone to feel comfortable and respected. We encourage all members to read and follow these guidelines.

Use mobile devices appropriately

While your device may power your exercise with music and fitness tracking tools, please use it respectfully and avoid talking on your phone in the fitness areas or using it in private areas. Our changing rooms are intended to offer a relaxing and private atmosphere for all. Photography and/or video recording are not permitted in the locker areas or during classes.

Take care of your equipment

Wipe down machines, mats, and any equipment after use to remove sweat and germs. Do not drop free weights. Repeated impact will cause damage. Put weights and other equipment back after you are done. When others are waiting for cardio equipment, please stick to the 30-minute time limit. If you are waiting to use a piece of equipment and someone is using it, let them know you’re keen to use it after them. While it’s not an expectation, some people don’t mind letting you ‘work in’ between their sets.

You can sign out small equipment like basketballs, badminton rackets & birdies, pickleball paddles & balls, monster bands, mini bands, barbell pads and skipping ropes at the front desk.

Please return all equipment and ensure items are in the same condition to avoid charges.

Use caution on the track.

When using the track, work in a traffic break to avoid collisions with runners and walkers. Note that inside lanes are set aside for walking, while outside lanes move faster. As traffic is one-way and alternates throughout the week, check directional arrows at the end of the track every day.

Practice good pool etiquette

Members play a role in keeping our pool a respectful and welcoming area. Classes and spots are first-come-first-served. To ensure equitability for all, members are not permitted to book back-to-back classes. To maximize class capacity, we now have designated deep-end or shallow-end spots. When booking a class, please register for the appropriate spot.

Dress appropriately

Members must wear a bathing suit in the hot tub and a towel or bathing suit in the steam room. Please cover up while lounging on the couches and use a towel when sitting on the benches to change.

Keep the focus on fitness in class

Help keep classes fun and safe for all by saving personal conversations for after the workout. This allows everyone to hear the cues and lets our instructors focus on participants’ routine, safety and form. Of course, we encourage you to speak up for help when needed.

Don’t make running late for class your cardio

Life happens. We understand that some commitments require you to arrive a bit late or leave a bit early. If this is the case, please take a spot as close to the equipment area as possible, move equipment carefully and enter or exit quietly. If you are over 10 minutes late, please wait for the next class.

Book your court time

Avoid misunderstandings on the badminton and pickleball courts by booking your time in advance. While you may use an empty court without booking, you must end your game and give up the court to anyone who has booked the time. Ask our front desk about the booking policy for more details.

Park appropriately

Follow the directional signs marked on the posts and pavement in our member lot and avoid double parking. Taking up more than one spot during busy times makes it difficult for members to find a spot. If you require handicap parking, please see an associate at the Front Desk to obtain a sticker for your windshield to avoid ticketing.

Keep the facility clean

Help keep our facility sparkling and hygienic. Always shower before entering the pool, whirlpool, and steam room. Store street shoes in the locker areas. Use the provided bins to return used rental towels.

Be respectful

Treat other members and staff respectfully. It’s not just the Golden Rule but a policy that we will enforce. Abuse of any type is forbidden.
