We’re excited to announce a project to renovate our front entrance and surrounding areas to improve accesibility and safety.

Project Timeline

The project is slated to begin on Monday, August 11, 2025, and is expected to last approximately three weeks, weather permitting. The parking lot stairs and handicap stalls adjacent to the stairs will be closed for the duration of this project.

First Project Phase (3-4 days)

  • The area between the front entrance concrete slab and the edge of the walkway (where you enter the building from the upper level handicap stalls) will be fenced off for a few days while a concrete slab is poured to replace the pavers.
  • A temporary asphalt ‘ramp’ will be added to the curb adjacent to this area to ensure ease of access to and from all handicap parking spots located on the upper level outside the Wellness front doors.
  • Fencing around the full project area will be erected, including a portion of the walkway up to the front entrance.

Next Phase (2-3 weeks)

  • Once the concrete slab at the front entrance is complete, that area will reopen and the path from the northwest parking lot leading to the entrance will be closed for the remainder of the project.
  • To establish a new access point during this closure (given both the path and the stairs will be unavailable), we will remove a diseased tree (previously scheduled for removal) and a portion of the fence near the parking gates. This will allow for the construction of a temporary ramp to provide an accessible route to the sidewalk leading up to the front door.
  • Temporary handicap spots closer to the parking gates, near the temporary ramp, will be designated.
  • Everyone coming from the main parking lot will use this new path to enter the building. Exiting through the side door to the parking lot will still be an option.

Why This Matters

  • Widening and reinforcing the stairs, incorporating flat landings, will improve safety and usability, especially during winter.
  • Retaining walls will be strengthened.
  • Replacing the pavers on the main walkway with concrete will reduce potential trip hazards and damage caused by snow clearing (chipped pavers).

Important Reminders

  • Signs will be posted to help guide you throughout the construction.
  • Please be extra cautious when driving through the entrance of the parking lot, as foot traffic will increase in this area.
