What is a DEXA scan?
A DEXA (dual-energy X-ray absorptiometry) is the gold standard to evaluate your body composition. The scan produces a complete picture of the body’s fat mass, lean mass, and bone density. In addition, the DEXA provides regional body fat results for the arms, legs, android (waist), gynoid (hips), and visceral (abdominal) fat. Visceral fat has been linked to metabolic disturbances and increased risk for cardiovascular disease and type 2 diabetes. See sample DEXA results below.

Is the program covered by my health care plan?
While private health insurance plan coverage varies, up to 61% of the program costs may be covered even if regular weight loss or fitness programs are not elligible. That’s because our program is built around one-one-one access to experts.
Will I need to take medications?
Program participation does not require the use of medication, it is simply one tool that may be offered to support you. Prescription of medications to support weight loss may be recommended if you are interested and a good candidate. We support all clients to make an informed decision about whether it is right for them.
What is Cognitive Behavioural Therapy and how does it help?
How we think and feel is intricately linked with our behaviour, physical health and weight loss success. Cognitive Behavioural Therapy is a tool to help you build resilience, adapt to sources of stress, and learn to challenge negative thoughts. It helps you identify positive strategies to reach your goals.
Can I do the program from outside of Winnipeg or the immediate area?
Yes! We have successfully deliviered our program virtually, supporting clients from other areas. Our online tools make it possible to access our team of weight loss experts, health trackers, learning materials and more.
