How the Paddle Rack System Works
The Paddle Rack System is active during designated drop-in times. No sign-up is required – drop in and place your paddle or racquet on the rack to reserve your spot.
Key Guidelines:
- First-Come, First-Served: Your paddle/racquet holds your place in line.
- Groups of 4: Games are played in groups of four, unless no one else is waiting.
- One Paddle/Racquet Per Player: Players must only have one paddle/racquet for play. No more than one paddle/racquet per player is permitted. The paddle/racquet is either with them on the court while playing or it is in a spot on the rack while waiting to play. Failure to follow this rule will lead to the player forfeiting their spot on the paddle system. Continued violation may result in loss of court privileges, membership suspension or termination.
- Borrowing Equipment: Need a paddle or racquet? Sign one out at the front desk, and we’ll provide tape and a marker to identify their racquet.
- Court Etiquette: Please be courteous and respectful of all players.
Reserving Your Spot:
- Place your paddle/racquet in the first available slot on the paddle rack. This means you’re in line for an open court.
- Follow the “Next Up” indicator: The paddle rack indicates which group is next up to play with the sliding “Next Up” tab. This tab moves left to right along the paddle rack, indicating which group of paddles/racquets is next up to play on the available court. There is also an orange sliding tab that indicates which side of the paddle rack is up next.
- Be Court-Side: Availability and “next up” on the paddle rack will always start from the left and work its way to the right, restarting from the left once all sets are filled with paddles/racquets (once the first twelve slots [3 groups] on the left side of the paddle rack are complete, slide the orange tab to the right and continue sliding the second “Next Up” tab until it reaches the end on the right).
- Move the Tab: Once a court becomes available, the group of paddles/racquets above the “Next Up” tab, on the side that correlates with the orange tab, can now proceed to play.
- Players must be at the court-side once the “Next Up” tab reaches their paddle/racquet. Failure to do so will result in the player forfeiting their spot in the Paddle Rack System.
- Ensure to slide the “Next Up” tab to the right once you grab your paddle/racquet to head to the available court to play (slide orange tab when necessary)
- Once paddles/racquets from the slots on the far right of the paddle rack are removed, slide “Next Up” and the orange tab back to the left and restart the process.
Length of Game:
Games end once match point is reached (11 for pickleball and 21 for badminton). You do not have to win by 2 if there are other players waiting to play.
- The score must be called each time before the ball/birdie is served
- Be aware of players next in line to play; therefore, be courteous if play time occurs for a longer period of time than normal
- A game should not exceed 20 minutes if other players are waiting
Once match point is reached, players must walk off the court and the group under the “Next Up” tab moves onto the court to play. Once players complete a game they can place their racquet/paddle in the next available slot to play again.
