The Wellness Institute launches new online initiative: Weight Loss for Health Online

WINNIPEG, MB, Jan. 4, 2021:

The Wellness Institute, a certified medical fitness and lifestyle medicine centre, and recognized leader at the forefront of preventing and managing chronic disease, announced today its new initiative to bring their evidence-based, health risk reduction programs online.  The first program to launch is Weight Loss for Health Online.

The program is delivered through NextJ Health Connected Wellness; an intuitive feature-rich wellness platform that combines the use of your smartphone, tablet, and/or computer with expert health coaching to deliver fully customized health programs to users. Going beyond typical digital classroom formats, NextJ Health Connected Wellness allows for comprehensive programs to be delivered with personalized experiences, interventions, and expert support on par with their evidence-based programs offered in-person.

Weight Loss for Health Online, the first offering from NextJ Health Connected Wellness, aims to reduce the risk of developing health complications among people with metabolic syndrome, diabetes, high blood pressure, heart disease, and those at risk of developing severe outcomes from COVID-19 infection.

The 16-week weight loss program uses a personalized approach to promote weight loss, decrease the risk of heart disease and foster wellness through behavioral health coaching on diet, exercise, and stress management. Once the core 16-weeks has been completed, users will enter the maintenance phase, giving them access to the platform for an additional eight months and the tools they need to help sustain their new habits and healthier lifestyle.

The Wellness Institute has partnered with NexJ Health, a leading provider of advanced virtual care solutions, as well as the Seven Oaks Hospital Chronic Disease Innovation Centre to advance this important initiative.

The Wellness Institute has already launched multiple services to provide virtual support to their members and to the community. These include on-demand and live virtual exercise classes, professional advice, digital workshops, online challenges, webinars, and podcasts.

We recognize that people have been sitting too much, eating too much, and experiencing additional stress during this pandemic. The time for change is now. There has simply never been a more important time to be healthy and look after ourselves in a healthy way.”
