Cancer Wellness Program
In partnership with the Breast Health Centre, the Wellness Institute offers the Cancer Wellness program.
The supervised exercise program supports the recovery and rehabilitation of breast cancer survivors with arm, chest or breast lymphedema. Participants attend the Wellness Institute for an hour once per week for an 8-week program adapted to support a gradual return to activity in a supportive group who share some of the same experiences.
Exercise may help ease side effects of lymphedema by moving the excess fluid, reducing swelling, and improving mood while helping maintain range of motion and improve physical function.
The program may include gentle exercise in the gym or warm therapy pool. Sessions are supported by certified instructors and specially-trained manual lymph drainage therapists from the Breast Health Centre.
Register free for the “Let’s Get Physical” lymphedema program through the Breast Health Centre at 204-235-3691.
